However, he also cautioned that chewing for hours a day is not advisable, as it could cause injury. Stronger Gum recommends chewing for 10-30 minutes a day in its programs, as most of us have not chewed hard foods throughout our lives, resulting in weaker jaws than we are supposed to have.
ABC News referenced a study cited by Stronger Gum, showing that mice grow their jaws by chewing hard foods. In response, Tomas Palomaki, the founder of Stronger Gum, claimed to have referenced additional studies demonstrating that humans also develop jaw muscles in response to hard foods. Other studies indicate that clenching teeth can lead to bone and muscle growth in the jaw. However, Stronger Gum does not recommend clenching, which is why we advocate chewing Stronger Gum instead.
